Paul Merson has admitted that he will be shocked if Chelsea sell Mason Mount this summer, with the England international heavily linked with a move to Liverpool.
Speaking on Sky Sports News, the pundit revealed that the west London side have to keep the 24-year-old despite strong reports in recent weeks that have suggested that Mount could be sold, with Liverpool the leading side for the Chelsea playmaker.

The Reds are keen to sign multiple midfielders this summer in what is set to be Jurgen Klopp’s biggest rebuilding job as manager of Liverpool, with Mount an ideal player for the German manager and his style of play as Chelsea look towards selling some players.
However, for Merson, Chelsea would be foolish to sell Mount, with the former Arsenal star saying: “There are 30 players there, it’s ridiculous. For me, you’ve got to keep Mason Mount straight away. Mount looks like the one going [this summer], and you’re like ‘wow’.
The Sky Sports pundit added: “All right, he hasn’t been great this season and hasn’t been playing a lot because of his injury, but he’s one of their standout players last season and one of England’s best players. So, for me, it needs to change quickly.”
Liverpool should look to make Merson’s Mount prediction a reality
WIth Merson shocked that Chelsea could sell Mount this summer, Liverpool should look to make this prediction a reality with a move for the England international, who could be the perfect midfielder to add to Klopp’s uninspiring ranks.
With Chelsea needing to sell and Mount looking ready for a new career change, a move to Liverpool makes a lot of sense for the playmaker, even with Merson claiming that the Blues would be crazy to sell the 24-year-old this summer given his obvious talents.
