Fabinho has tipped Curtis Jones to go all the way to the top with the Liverpool academy graduate enjoying his best run of form yet in the senior team in recent weeks.
Speaking to the club’s official website, the Brazilian international lauded the 22-year-old midfielder after an incredible string of performances for Jurgen Klopp’s side, with Jones impressing against West Ham and Leeds United as the youngster looks set to start today against Tottenham.
The England youth international has endured a difficult year through injury and Liverpool’s general slump in form this season, yet Jones is now playing at a level few would have expected this season, though Fabinho has always had belief in his teammate that he could reach these recent heights.
Fabinho said about Jones’ recent run of form and the midfielder’s potential: “Curtis came into the team some games ago and he’s playing really well. I think it’s really important to have a player like him playing [at] the highest level because he really helps us. I know him well, I know his quality.
“He’s the kind of player that always looks ready. I don’t know how many games he was on the bench or not even on the bench [but] when he came into the starting XI, he always played good. That’s why I say he’s already ready. I’m not surprised at all with his performances.”
Fabinho’s praise will only spur Jones on to greater heights
Jones’ form has been one of the many factors behind Liverpool’s recent surge in form, with the Reds hopeful of making it four wins-in-a-row later today against Ryan Mason’s Tottenham, and Fabinho’s comments will only make the midfielder want to push for even better performances.
At 22, Jones is one of the youngest players in Liverpool’s squad a potential first-team for years to come, and another top display in the Premier League against the north London giants could cement the midfielder’s position in Klopp’s plans for next season.
