Liverpool are interested in signing Atalanta defender Giorgio Scalvini this summer, according to Calciomercato.
As per the report, the Reds are eyeing a move for the 19-year-old, who is also said to be on the radar of the likes of Bayern Munich, Atletico Madrid, Inter Milan, AC Milan, Juventus, Napoli and Roma.
The Italian outlet have suggested Jurgen Klopp’s side could be among the front-runners, as Inter and Juventus – the two teams ‘most interested’ – are both undergoing financial issues.
Back in January, Calciomercato reported that Atalanta value the teenager at £35m, so he could prove to be a decent back-up option for Liverpool.
Liverpool interested in Scalvini
At just 19-years-old, Scalvini has emerged as one of the most exciting talents in Italian football.
The centre-back has made 25 appearances in Serie A this season, bringing his overall total to 48 for the club.
Following a 3-3 draw with Juventus in January, Atalanta coach Gian Piero Gasperini was full of praise for the defender.
“He is already a great player at 19,” the manager said. “He is a leader on and off the pitch.
“He’s destined for greatness. Wherever you put him, he has quality and class.”
Having already made four appearances for the Italian national team, Scalvini is evidently a very special player.
Therefore, if Liverpool could bring him in as an option for the future, this would be a great signing for the club.
