Jurgen Klopp has reportedly set July 8th as the date he wants Liverpool’s summer transfers to all be completed, with the German manager keen to finish business in the window early.
According to the Daily Mail, the Anfield boss is eager to get his pre-season plans spot on this year having endured his worst campaign yet as manager of Liverpool, with Klopp stating that the new term starts in the first training camp back.
As per the report, Klopp is determined to have all his new summer signings made before the first day of pre-season, July 8th, with Liverpool expected to be busy in the transfer market in terms of new arrivals as well as departures.
Central midfield is the biggest area of concern for Liverpool with Naby Keita, James Milner and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain all expected to leave, with long-term replacements for Fabinho, Thiago Alcantara and Jordan Henderson firmly on the agenda.
And Klopp setting such a tight deadline for new signings to be made could test Liverpool’s transfer team, especially with how important this summer is for the club given the size of the overhaul the Merseyside giants are set to embark on.
Klopp’s Liverpool transfer plan could be too risky for comfort
Every manager’s dream is to get in all their summer signings as easily as possible, with this tactic arguably what’s pushed Arsenal as far as they have in the Premier League this season. Yet for Klopp, Liverpool’s situation could mean that an early deadline might do more damage than good.
As we know, Liverpool could easily do with five or even six new players, with numerous names expected to leave Anfield at the same time, and such a task can’t possibly be achieved by July 8th, when the transfer window would have been opened for just over a month.
