Liverpool are interested in signing Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher, but they understand the difficulty of signing two players from the same club.
That’s according to The Athletic, who have shared a list of the Reds’s midfield targets ahead of the summer window.
As widely reported, Jurgen Klopp’s side are keen to bring Mason Mount to Anfield – having emerged as a priority target after pulling out of the race to sign Jude Bellingham.
Alongside the England international, Liverpool are also keen on his teammate, Gallagher.
However, as per the report, they “know it would be hard to get two players out of Chelsea in the same transfer window.”
Out of the pair, Mount is seen as the priority, so a move for the 23-year-old seems less likely.
Liverpool interested in Gallagher
Whereas Chelsea are keen for Mount to sign an extension at Stamford Bridge, the West London outfit are looking to cash-in on Gallagher at the end of the season.
Alike Mount, the midfielder is an academy graduate of the club, so his sale would be considered as purely profit as they look to balance their books.
Back in January, Chelsea were willing to sell the England international to Everton. Although the player rejected the move, Frank Lampard’s side still maintain the same stance: they’re willing to sell if the price is right.
Therefore, Gallagher remains an option for Liverpool.
If they fail in their bid to land Mount at Anfield, they may explore a move for his teammate.
But as it stands, the Reds are set to go all out for their priority target.
