Liverpool may consider signing Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans on a free transfer this summer.

That’s according to The Athletic, who have shared a list of the Reds’s midfield targets ahead of the summer window.

Whilst the likes of Mason Mount, Alexis Mac Allister and Ryan Gravenberch are explored in detail, a number of alternative signings are also mentioned.

As per the report, the Merseyside outfit could consider Tielemans on a free transfer at the end of the season.

Although Liverpool didn’t choose to make a move for him last summer when his price was low, the fact he will be a free agent in a few months’ time could mean he is a ‘possible option’ for the Reds.

His arrival would mean they could utilise their transfer budget elsewhere, bringing in further additions.

However, it is claimed that a move would be surprising, given the level of talent Jurgen Klopp’s side have been linked with in recent months.

Liverpool could consider Tielemans

At one stage, Tielemans was considered one of the best prospects in Premier League football.

Having scored numerous spectacular goals for the Foxes, the sky appeared to be the limit for the 25-year-old.

Despite this, in recent seasons, the Belgium international has faded away.

He continues to play in a poor Leicester side, but he hasn’t received anywhere near as much interest as has the likes of James Maddison and Harvey Barnes.

Having amassed 145 appearances in the Premier League, Tielemans is an experienced option for a player available on a free.

However, with Jurgen Klopp’s intensity in the middle of the park, we’re not sure he would fit the mould.
