Liverpool transfer target Alexis Mac Allister has claimed he is really happy at Brighton, despite rumours linking him with a move away in the summer.
Speaking in an interview with ESPN (as relayed by 90min), the Argentine was asked about his future, after his father claimed he expects to seal a transfer away from the Amex at the end of the season.
“The truth is that I am very happy at the club,” Mac Allister said. “I try not to think about the future.
“I know there’s a lot of talk and I think it’s normal after winning the World Cup. Already, in the January market, there was a lot of talk, but I’m very calm. I focus on playing, on training every day, on continuing to improve.
“Like I said, I have a lot of respect for Brighton. I respect this club a lot because I am very grateful.
“Later in the summer, we’ll see. If an offer arrives that could be good for the club and for me, we will sit down and talk. If not, I will continue to be very happy at this club.”
Mac Allister is happy at Brighton
Despite all of the transfer speculation surrounding the 24-year-old, he has remained extremely professional and considerate towards Brighton.
Reportedly, the Seagulls will demand £60m to part ways with the midfielder this summer, and after the season he has had, numerous Premier League clubs will be happy to pay the premium.
According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool will be holding talks with the player’s representatives very soon.
The Reds need multiple midfield additions, and Mac Allister could prove to be a brilliant acquisition for Jurgen Klopp.
Although the Argentina international is seemingly pleading his allegiance to Brighton, he is just being respectful to his club.
Therefore, if his Dad (also his agent) is to be believed, he’s likely to make a move in the summer.
