Jurgen Klopp raves about Liverpool attacker Diogo Jota after Nottingham Forest victory yesterday

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp was full of praise for the performance of attacker Diogo Jota against Nottingham Forest yesterday.

Speaking in a post-match interview with BBC Sport, the Reds boss highlighted the Portuguese’s increase in confidence, having now scored four goals in the last two games.

“That’s what goals can do. They give you a boost and confidence,” said Klopp.

“He did miss a sitter which was the easiest out of them all, but the second goal was very special.”

After a year without scoring, Jota now seems back to his best.

Four goals in two games is a fantastic statistic for any attacker, but it’s especially impressive for one who has been struggling to convert in the final third.

However, as Klopp pointed out, the 26-year-old did also miss an absolute sitter.

Ever since he arrived at Anfield, this has always seemed to be the case; he seemingly doesn’t have that killer instinct that out-and-out strikers always possess.

In fairness, the Portugal international is more of a winger, and we have just become so accustomed to Mohamed Salah scoring insane amounts from the right-hand side.

But it’s great to see Jota back up firing again, as Liverpool make one last push for European football.
