Liverpool attacker Diogo Jota has shared what he was telling Fabinho about Mohamed Salah yesterday.
Speaking in a post-match interview with the club’s official site, the Portugal international was asked about the Egyptian king moving up to joint-sixth in the Reds’s all-time top scorers list, after he levelled Robbie Fowler’s 183-goal tally.
“His scoring record is incredible!” said Jota.
“Even today I was telling Fabinho on the bench he always finds a way to score…
“He just finds a way every single time and that is why he is so important.”
Jota full of praise for Salah
Although Jota bagged twice against Nottingham Forest yesterday, Salah will take the headlines for his sensational scoring statistic.
Having matched Fowler’s tally in 71 less matches, the 30-year-old is now only three goals behind Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard.
The former skipper scored his in 710 games, but as a midfielder, that total remains an exceptional accomplishment.
However, Salah has the opportunity to climb the ranks even more.
In fourth, Billy Liddell has 228 goals to his name, whereas third place Gordon Hodgson has 241.
Less than 60 goals away, the £34m winger could surpass these totals over the next few years – cementing himself even further in Liverpool’s illustrious history.
