Liverpool defender Andy Robertson was left unhappy with teammate Diogo Jota during Wednesday’s session at the AXA Training Centre.
As seen on LFCTV’s ‘Inside Training’ series, the two players were engaged in a game of keepy-up in a bid to improve ball control.
The aim of the game is that one player shouts to the other how many touches they’re allowed to have. The ball can’t touch the ground as they use their head, feet, knees, shoulders and whatever else they can manage to knock it between each other.
Things seemed to be going smoothly as Robertson and Jota tootled the ball around serenely between them. That was until the Portugal international fired a powerful header onto Robbo’s left boot shouting “One!” – Liverpool’s left-back had to get the ball back in a single touch.
Unsurprisingly, Robertson couldn’t oblige, the ball bouncing off his foot and away. “Ah!” shouted the 29-year-old, turning away in disgust. “So late, so late!” he balled at Jota. Not a happy bunny.
Another day at the office for Robbo
Whereas Diogo and Robbo struggled to keep the ball up for any great length of time, Luis Diaz and Thiago Alcantara had no such trouble.
As seen on Liverpool’s official Twitter page last night, the skilful duo nonchalantly kept the ball in the air for over a minute-and-a-half.
With some truly delightful touches from each player, it’s really worth a watch. How lucky we are as fans to see these two turning out for our club. Simply brilliant to have both back fit.
Elsewhere in training Robertson was also spotted in a lively disagreement with James Milner over a perceived sloppy pass during a rondo.
“It starts with your bad pass,” the Scotsman says towards Milner about an off camera incident. “Bad pass?!” replies the vice-captain. “You make it a bad pass by not moving! Eh, bad pass?!”
Just another day at the office for Robbo!
