Pundit Janusz Michallik has claimed Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount is going to ‘jump ship’ this summer, after claims suggest Liverpool have made a move to sign him.
Speaking on an episode of PL Express for ESPN FC, the former United States international shared his prediction for the 24-year-old’s upcoming transfer decision.
“I like Mason Mount,” said Janusz Michallik. “But I don’t think Mason Mount likes Chelsea.
“So, he’s going to jump ship.
“That’s my prediction. I can’t blame him.”
According to CaughtOffside, the Reds have prepared and approved a contract offer for the England international.
Mount to jump ship?
Having fallen massively out of favour at Chelsea this season, it wouldn’t be fair to claim Mount is ‘jumping ship’ after the Blues’s poor season.
In reality, he just wants to feel valued by his club. Therefore, if subsequent contract offers and a lack of playing time fail to demonstrate that relationship, then the 24-year-old would prefer to move elsewhere.
At Liverpool, the midfielder would be a huge addition to Jurgen Klopp’s squad.
He would be a guaranteed starter week-in week-out, and that would certainly be reflected in his deal at Anfield.
With his place in the England squad to think about, a move to Liverpool could ensure Mount gets his career back on track.
However, this will be a difficult decision for the 24-year-old to make.
