It is ‘almost certain’ Liverpool will not extend Thiago Alcantara’s contract, which is set to expire in the summer of 2024.
That’s according to The Mirror, who claim the Reds are highly unlikely to renew the Spaniard’s deal at Anfield, despite his influence on the pitch.

Having just turned 32, the midfielder will be 33 years old when his contract expires at the end of next season.
With the Merseyside outfit looking to rebuild their midfield this summer, the club are expected to allow the former Bayern Munich star to leave on a free transfer.
Awful decision
This would be a horrendous decision for Liverpool to make.
Going off the current squad, a 33-year-old Thiago would still be the Reds’s best midfielder.
James Milner is currently 37 years old, and there are talks about handing him another one-year extension.
Jordan Henderson is 32 years old (turning 33 in June) and he is under contract until 2025.

Without disrespecting the leadership qualities of these two, Thiago is a far superior player.
In fact, he’s a ‘world-class’ midfielder – somebody Jurgen Klopp should be desperate to keep.
