Bayern Munich attacker Sadio Mane is not considering a return to Liverpool, according to Sport Bild journalist Christian Falk.
Since moving to the German giants last summer, the Anfield legend has not got off to the start he would have hoped for at his new club.
Although 11 goals in 32 appearances isn’t by any means awful, the 31-year-old hasn’t scored since October – a somewhat worrying stat.
After a recent altercation with teammate Leroy Sane, fans were unhappy with their £35m signing.
Rumours started to emerge of a rift between Mane and Bayern, leading to suggestions of a return to Merseyside.
However, Falk has now put this speculation to bed.
“It is NOT TRUE that Sadio Mané at FC Bayern is considering returning to LFC,” he wrote on Twitter.
Mane to Liverpool – Highly unlikely
Having arrived at Anfield in 2016 in a deal worth £34m, Mane went on to become a legend at Liverpool.
In 269 appearances for the club, the Senegal international went on to score 120 goals and provide 48 assists.
He formed a crucial part of Jurgen Klopp’s starting XI and became feared across Europe as a part of Liverpool’s deadly front-three, alongside Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah.
He received huge accolades for his accomplishments at the club, during which he was hailed as an ‘unbelievable’ footballer by pundit Jamie O’Hara.
However, in the last year of his stay at Anfield, Mane demonstrated a noticeable decline.
This has clearly continued with his career at Bayern, as he is no longer the prime version once shown at Anfield.
Despite this, even if he was on better form, Liverpool would be unlikely to bring him back to Kirkby – as they are now focusing on the next round of talent on Merseyside.
