AS Roma are reportedly interested in signing Roberto Firmino, with the Liverpool attacker set to leave Anfield at the end of this season once his contract expires.
According to CalcioMercato, Jose Mourinho’s side are eyeing a move for the Brazilian international, who is due to become a free agent this summer after announcing that he will leave Liverpool at the end of this campaign after eight years at the club.
Signed for £29m in 2015, Firmino has been a key attacker for the Reds with the 31-year-old winning the UEFA Champions League and the Premier League under Jurgen Klopp, and Roma could now be the forward’s next destination if reports are to be believed.
Having signed Andrea Belotti and Paulo Dybala last summer, Roma have shown that they’re able to attract high-profile free agents, with the Mourinho factor proving to be a huge pull for the Italian giants, and Firmino could be the next name to join the Serie A side.
Indeed, the 31-year-old is arguably at the peak of his career despite being a squad player for Liverpool this season, and with Roma an exciting project club, Firmino could flourish in the Eternal City, especially if Mourinho leads his club to the Champions League for next season.
Firmino could be an excellent signing for Roma this summer
A modern Liverpool icon, Firmino has achieved all there is to do in England in his eight years on Merseyside, and a move to Roma could be a great career decision for the Brazilian, who would become a superstar in the Italian capital under Mourinho.
Surrounded by top talents such as the aforementioned Dybala, Firmino could be Roma’s catalyst for the next season in what could be a year to remember for the Giallorossi, who could be back in Europe’s premier club competition if they play their cards right between now and the end of the campaign.
