Bristol City manager Nigel Pearson has claimed Liverpool will need to pay a huge fee if they are to sign Robins star Alex Scott this summer.
On Monday, The Daily Mail revealed the Reds had joined West Ham United and Wolverhampton Wanderers in the race to land the 19-year-old.
Liverpool’s head of recruitment Dave Fallows and chief scout Barry Hunter were in attendance as the midfielder featured for England U20’s against Germany last month.

Following the Merseyside outfit’s interest, the Bristol City boss has warned Premier League clubs it will take a mammoth bid to lure Scott away from Ashton Gate.
“Alex Scott for instance as a point of conversation, every player has a price,” Pearson told Bristol Live.
“It will have to be one hell of a bid for him to go. I can assure you that Steve [Lansdown, the Bristol City majority shareholder], he doesn’t want to sell players for the sake of it. It’s not about that.
“I think Alex Scott’s had two really good Championship seasons for us which is remarkable to say he’s only 19 and he’s been one of our most successful and consistent players but for somebody to get him away from here is going to cost a fortune so we’re not going to undersell ourselves at all. And that’s why it’s important to get young players on long contracts.”
Pearson wants big money for Liverpool target Scott
The possibility of Liverpool signing Scott really depends on how much money Pearson is actually alluding to.
According to The Telegraph, Wolves were keen to do a deal for the teenager in January, but they were put off by Bristol City’s reported £25m price-tag.

With a standout performance in the FA Cup against Manchester City, the Robins could very easily increase their valuation of the player.
If so, this makes a move to Anfield somewhat unrealistic, as we cannot see FSG sanctioning a big money move for a youngster from the Championship.
