Liverpool transfer news: Inter Milan reject chance to sign Naby Keita

Serie A giants Inter Milan have rejected the chance to sign Liverpool midfielder Naby Keita.

That’s according to FC Inter News, who claim the Italian outfit have turned down the opportunity to land the 28-year-old on a free transfer in the summer.

The Guinea international is out of contract at Anfield at the end of the season, and numerous clubs from around Europe have expressed an interest in securing his services.

One of the teams most heavily linked has been Inter, but according to FC Inter News’s report, they have rejected the chance to sign Keita.

Simone Inzaghi’s side were put off by the player’s £120,000 weekly wage, and also by his dismal injury record.

Inter turn down Keita

Having arrived at Anfield in 2018 in a deal worth £52.75m, Keita’s tenure at the club has been somewhat underwhelming.

During those five years, the midfielder has made just 129 appearances for the Reds. More worryingly, only 77 of these came from the starting XI.

For the most part, the 28-year-old has struggled with numerous injuries.

However, when he has been available, largely he has been very good – but that hasn’t been all that often.

Jurgen Klopp has described Keita as an ‘incredible player’, but with his injury issues, even he seems content with letting him go.
