Kostas Tsimikas has revealed that Liverpool winger Luis Diaz has improved during his rehabilitation period after missing the last six months of football due to injury.

Speaking to Liverpool’s official website, the Greek international was full of praise for the 26-year-old winger, who looks set to return to the Liverpool squad to face Leeds United having been out for the entire year after suffering numerous injury setbacks.

With Liverpool fighting against the odds to qualify for top-four, the return of Diaz could not have come at a more perfect time, with a trip to Elland Road on the horizon for the Reds in what could be a season-defining fixture for Jurgen Klopp’s side.

Yet with Diaz back in the squad, Liverpool will feel confident about winning all three points, and Tsimikas is impressed with what he has seen from the winger in training, with the Greek international saying: “He improved all the time with his personality all the time he played.

“When I played with him, because we play on the same side, he’s an unbelievable player and always helped me. And I help him also. Of course I’m very happy for this game, hopefully he plays and hopefully will be in a good shape and he can show us a little bit of the magic he showed us before he got injured.”

Diaz’s influence has been greatly missed having been out on the treatment table for the entirety of 2023, yet with the Colombian international now back and ready for selection, Tsimikas’ comments hint that there could be a new side to the winger we are yet to see.

Indeed, Diaz adds more firepower and flair to Liverpool’s forward line, and with Leeds coming up for the Reds, the South American will be hopeful of impressing in Yorkshire for Klopp’s side if given the chance to cause the Whites some damage on Monday night.
