Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans could ‘become an option’ for Liverpool in the summer transfer market.
That’s according to 90min, who claim that Tielemans may now find himself on the Reds long-list of midfield targets.
Having missed out on top priority Jude Bellingham, Liverpool are said to be ‘profiling and analysing’ several players to bolster their midfield. As a result, Tielemans – who is also said to be of interest to Arsenal – has reportedly come into consideration.

The Belgian is far from the only player on Jurgen Klopp’s list, though. 90min name as many as seven other players as being ‘considered’ by the Reds.
Mason Mount is one, and is said to be ‘of strong interest’ to Jurgen Klopp. Others supposedly on the shortlist are Premier League quartet Matheus Nunes, Ruben Neves, Moises Caicedo and Alexis Mac Allister as well as Bayern Munich’s Ryan Gravenberch.
Tielemans ready for Leicester exit
In terms of helping the budget, Tielemans would obviously be an attractive option for Liverpool. While Bellingham is at one end of the scale, the 25-year-old is plainly at the other. For that reason alone, you can see why the Reds would consider the Leicester man.
This will inevitably lead to some rolled eyes from Liverpool supporters. Fans have now become far too used to their club taking the ‘cheap’ option and this would obviously be another example of that. Having failed to land Bellingham for monetary reasons, Tielemans arrival would therefore not play well on the terraces.

But it should also be said that there would be sporting reasons for his signing, too. The Belgium international may not be the most mobile midfielder in the world, but he clearly has quality.
The orchestrator of a very good Leicester side for a number of years, he has been lauded as being ‘superb’ by the likes of Gary Lineker on Twitter this season.
Despite those plaudits, 2022/23 obviously hasn’t been a vintage one for Tielemans or Leicester. With his impending exit hanging over him, the former Anderlecht midfielder hasn’t been as influential as in previous years.
Nevertheless, when Tielemans does leave the King Power Stadium this summer, he’ll do so as a Leicester legend. Having scored a tremendous winning goal in the FA Cup final in 2021, he’ll always be remembered by Foxes fans. If he can have a similar impact at his next club, he’ll have done well. We don’t think that’ll be Liverpool, but as they showed with the Bellingham news last night, the Reds are a bit of a basket case right now. Who knows what this summer will bring.
