West Ham United striker Michail Antonio has shared his thoughts on Liverpool fans and the atmosphere within Anfield.
Speaking on The Footballer’s Football Podcast with Newcastle United’s Callum Wilson, the Hammers attacker has raved about the Merseyside outfit’s supporters, claiming there’s no other club quite like it.
“It’s unbelievable,” said Antonio. “When it’s going it’s unbelievable.
“That’s one thing I have to say about Anfield.”
The Jamaica international has played 12 times against the Reds, during which he has scored five goals.
Antonio raves about Liverpool fans
In a season where Jurgen Klopp’s side are seriously struggling, Liverpool do have one thing going for them: the fans.
The Merseyside outfit can probably be considered the only club in the Premier League whose supporters can affect the outcome of matches.
Particularly on European nights, Anfield is a fortress which teams fear to travel to.
The support of the fans singing and chanting can elevate the XI on the pitch, pushing them on – giving them that extra burst of life.
Antonio is bang on with what he’s said here, and we imagine there’s a whole host of other Premier League footballers who feel the exact same about Liverpool.
Now we just need that incredible atmosphere week-in week-out.
