Didi Hamann has urged caution to Liverpool over their pursuit to sign Jude Bellingham, with the former Anfield hero believing that the Borussia Dortmund star lacks discipline.
Speaking to Sky Germany, the pundit suggested that the England international could struggle to cope with the leap to one of Europe’s biggest clubs amid growing transfer interest in the teenage midfielder, with Bellingham expected to make a blockbuster move this summer.
Liverpool have been one of the main players in the race to sign Bellingham, with Jurgen Klopp making the Birmingham-born talent their primary target for the upcoming transfer window. Yet for Hamann, despite the midfielder’s qualities, the German believes his former club should proceed with caution over a signing.

The 49-year-old said on Bellingham: “I’m not too sure about Bellingham, he’s an incredibly talented player with extraordinary abilities. The only thing he doesn’t have is discipline. If you look at the goals that Dortmund have conceded in recent weeks and months, I can tell you that in five or six in which he played a key role.
“If you want to go to a top club like Real Madrid or Liverpool, you have to play differently. At Dortmund, you can do whatever you want. No one dares to say anything because they are afraid to disturb you. I would be careful if I am Real Madrid, Liverpool or Manchester City.”
Liverpool have to disregard Hamann’s criticism on Bellingham

Hamann is right to call out Bellingham’s form in recent weeks, especially defensively, has been quite poor with Dortmund gunning for the Bundesliga title. However, it’s harsh to pin some of the goals the German side have conceded completely on the Liverpool target.
For Bellingham’s few flaws, the midfielder has continued to play a starring role for Dortmund in what is turning out to be their best chance in years to win the German title. And for Liverpool, the Reds should disregard Hamann’s latest comments on the teenage midfielder.
