Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has claimed the atmosphere in Anfield has been ‘incredible’ lately.

Speaking in an interview with Sky Sports News, the German admitted the team have been extremely poor this term, but he commended the fans who have kept the spirit alive on Merseyside.

“I’m sorry for our people, that they don’t have the season they wished for,” said Klopp. “But in the long term they will forget that.

“I couldn’t care less what we did last year or the years before. I’m 100 per cent responsible for this rubbish and it’s really not cool.

“I know everybody can express their emotions in an instant and there will be a lot of negative comments about us – I understand that.

“But the people in the stadium are incredible.

“You see things happening at other clubs, not only sackings but teams against owners, fans against owners, fans against the team – I’ve seen it all.

“But if anyone can get through a situation like this in a classy manner, I really think it’s us as a club.”

Klopp praises Liverpool fans

As Klopp said, it hasn’t been easy for the fans within Anfield this season.

They have had to endure the club’s worst campaign under the German, and things haven’t looked like changing at any point this year.

Therefore, it’s remarkable the manager and the team have the full support of the fanbase.

For Klopp, it has most certainly been earned, and he will go into next season with the same backing he has always received.

If anyone’s supporters can get the team firing back to their best, it’s Liverpool’s.

Therefore, this is exactly what we need to see against Arsenal today.
