Jamie Carragher has urged Jurgen Klopp to name Thiago Alcantara in the Liverpool starting XI to face Arsenal if there’s no chance that the midfielder will be injured.
Speaking on Sky Sports’ Essential Football Podcast, the former Anfield defender made the suggestion that the 31-year-old could be with a chance to start for Liverpool against Arsenal if Thiago is fully over his most recent injury setback.
The former Bayern Munich star has been out of action for the last two months. However, Thiago was photographed this week back in training for Liverpool, raising hopes that the Spanish international will be fit to face Arsenal later this Easter Sunday.
Lauded as ‘unbelievable’ by Paul Merson, Thiago returning to face Arsenal could be massive for Liverpool in their quest to return to winning ways. And for Carragher, Klopp making the decision to start the midfielder could be the defining factor for the blockbuster clash at Anfield.

The Sky Sports pundit said when asked about if Thiago will be given the start against Arsenal having been out through injury: “It will be interesting to see what role Thiago plays, whether he goes on the bench and he comes on or if he starts the game.
“Only Jurgen Klopp knows how fit Thiago is, but if there’s no chance of a recurrence of an injury I’d probably start him. If he’s anywhere near, I would be putting Thiago straight in that team and trying to get the foot on the ball and a bit of possession and creativity from that position.
Thiago starting against Arsenal could change everything for Liverpool

Thiago’s absence has been massively felt by Liverpool over the last two months, yet with the midfielder now in the frame to return to the starting Xi against Arsenal, there could be a strong chance that the Spaniard’s return could change the outcome of everything this Sunday at Anfield.
As we know, Thiago is arguably Liverpool’s most quality midfielder in terms of creative and attacking output, and having the 31-year-old back could be key in the Reds getting a huge win against an in-form Arsenal side who be sniffing blood on Merseyside for the first time in almost a decade.
