Liverpool midfielder Thiago Alcantara could be available to play against Arsenal on Sunday.
That’s according to the Liverpool Echo, who claim the Spaniard could make his long-awaited return at Anfield this weekend.
The 31-year-old has been unavailable since February due to an injury to his hip flexor.
Before the international break, he hadn’t made his way back to training.
Having had that time off to work on his recovery, he has since returned to the first-team at Kirkby.
Thiago missed the recent clashes against Manchester City and Chelsea, but he could now make his return to action against the Gunners on Sunday.
Thiago could return in time for Arsenal
This would be a huge boost to Jurgen Klopp, as his midfield has been the most evident weak point in recent weeks.
Prior to his injury, alongside youngster Stefan Bajcetic, Thiago – who only cost £20m – was Liverpool’s best player in the middle of the park.
Although his job was to dictate play and create chances from deep with his incredible passing and vision, he also took on more defensive duties.
During a time when his fellow midfielders struggled to win the ball, the Spaniard took it upon himself to put in strong tackles just ahead of the defence.
This presence has been seriously missed in the middle since his absence, so the ‘unbelievable’ player’s return to the XI would be a major positive heading into the Arsenal game.
