Interim Chelsea coach Bruno Saltor has shared the reason why reported Liverpool target Mason Mount did not feature last night.
Speaking with journalist Carrie Brown for beIN SPORTS, the Blues’s temporary manager revealed that the 24-year-old has only just returned from injury.
He assured fans the England international will feature in the next few games.
“He was available, but he’s coming back from an injury,” said Saltor.

“It’s always challenging bringing players back from injury.
“He can play in different positions, he’s a great player. We love him.
“He’s a leader. He loves the club.
“You can see he’s an important player for us. He will have minutes for sure with anyone.”
According to GOAL, the Reds are willing to go all out to sign the Chelsea midfielder this summer.
Why Mount didn’t play vs Liverpool
Although Saltor didn’t mention it, perhaps Mount’s current contract situation at Chelsea could have played a part in his absence last night.
Having failed to come to an agreement with his boyhood club, the 24-year-old will only have 12 months left on his deal at the end of the season.
As a hugely talented player with a wealth of experience, Chelsea could have a big decision to make: cash-in while his valuation is high, or run the risk of him leaving as a free agent in the summer of 2024.

Liverpool desperately need numerous midfield additions this summer, and Mount would be a fantastic addition to Jurgen Klopp’s squad.
Although the Blues reportedly want £70m to let the player go, with his contract dwindling, the Reds would likely be able to land him for far less.
