Galatasaray are reportedly lining up a move to sign Naby Keita this summer, with the Liverpool midfielder set to leave Anfield as a free agent once his contract expires.
According to Fanatik, the 28-year-old is emerging as a target for the Turkish giants as Galatasaray amid internal worries that Lucas Torreira will leave Istanbul after a sensational first year with the club, with Keita being eyed as a potential replacement or partner for the former Arsenal man.
Fabrizio Romano reported earlier this week that Keita will leave Liverpool at the end of this season, joining Roberto Firmino in winding down their contract at Anfield after opting against signing a new contract with the club, with the Guniea midfielder set for a new challenge in football.
And the midfielder’s next destination could be Turkey, with Galatasaray one of the leading clubs in Europe this season and set for a return to the UEFA Champions League with an incredibly star-studded side that contains the likes of Mauro Icardi, Juan Mata and Nicolo Zaniolo.
Indeed, Keita could do a lot worse than Galatasaray this summer, and with the Turkish giants on course to qualify for Europe’s premier club competition with one of the most interesting squads in the entire continent, the Liverpool man could be tempted with a move to Istanbul.
Keita signing for Galatasaray could be an excellent move
Keita is in need of a complete change in scenery having spent the last five years at Liverpool, and whilst Galatasaray might not be the club many people would suggest right off the bat, the Turkish side could be an exceptional stop-gap for the midfielder to return to his best form.
As we know, Galatasaray have hit their stride this season with a slew of superstar signings made over the summer, and adding Keita to the mix could be an exceptional deal for all parties, especially with the 28-year-old leaving Liverpool at the end of this season as a free-agent.
