Liverpool could reportedly sign Eintracht Frankfurt attacker Jesper Lindstrom for €40m (£34m), with the Bundesliga side setting their asking price for the Danish international.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the 22-year-old has attracted interest from Premier League clubs ahead of the summer, with journalist Florian Plettenburg reporting that Liverpool are incredibly interested in signing the Scandinavian youngster.
Lindstrom has been one of the best talents in Germany this season, with the versatile attacker bagging nine goals and four assists for Frankfurt in all competitions, and Liverpool could now have a realistic chance of signing the Bundesliga star based on his asking price.
Romano said on Lindstrom’s current transfer situation ahead of the summer: “I’m told it’s true that Premier League clubs are informed on Lindstrom, but I’m not aware of proposals, bids or advanced negotiations yet. His price tag could be around €40m (£34m).”
Given the current state of the market and how inflated some asking prices have become for some players, £34m for Lindstrom could be a bargain for Liverpool this summer, especially if the Reds are looking to add an attacking midfielder to their ranks.
Indeed, whilst Lindstrom has enjoyed his best football this season in an advanced role for Frankfurt, the 22-year-old could flourish in a deeper role under Jurgen Klopp, who could unlock a new level to the Danish star’s game should he move to Anfield this summer.
Liverpool have to take advantage of Lindstrom’s asking price
Liverpool have been the Premier League kings in getting value out of the market in recent years, with Mohamed Salah alone costing about the same as what Frankfurt want from Lindstrom, and as a result, the Reds must make a move to sign the attacking youngster.
With the Reds in need of a midfield overhaul and Lindstrom an option that could tick a lot of boxes, a move makes sense for Liverpool in the coming weeks, especially with a price as cheap as £34m, a figure that could spring rival clubs into action.
