Rio Ferdinand reacts to Pep Guardiola celebrating in the faces of Liverpool players

Pundit Rio Ferdinand has reacted to Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola celebrating in the faces of Liverpool players.

Speaking on commentary for BT Sport, the former Manchester United defender claimed he was surprised Kostas Tsimikas didn’t react to the Spaniard’s taunting, when the Sky Blues equalised.

“That celebration there, I don’t know how Tsimikas hasn’t pushed the opposing manager, Pep Guardiola, out of the way,” said Ferdinand. “But he seems happy.”

The City boss even mockingly shook hands with Reds loanee Arthur Melo, before continuing to celebrate in front of the home fans.

It was a bit odd to see Guardiola celebrating like he had just won the Champions League. This was made even weirder by the fact that it was in the faces of various Liverpool players.

At the time, the Sky Blues had just equalised thanks to Julian Alvarez, and there were no signs they would go on to batter the Reds.

If Jurgen Klopp was pictured celebrating in the same way, there would be uproar amongst opposition fans.

Furthermore, the media would have a field day if Tsimikas actually did end up pushing him in response, but nothing will be said of the City manager.

This was another incredibly poor performance by Liverpool, and this was made all the more frustrating by Guardiola’s approach to the first goal.
