Pundit Simon Jordan has claimed Chelsea midfielder and Liverpool target Mason Mount is asking for ridiculous wages.
Speaking on TalkSPORT, the former Crystal Palace chairman has suggested the 24-year-old is pricing himself out of a potential move.
“His problem currently at Chelsea as far as I understand it, with the contractual situation and a potential move away, is that there are some pretty outlandish demands coming in for salary. I think they’re in the mid-£200,000 plus,” said Jordan.
“My understanding is that the lad wants to stay at Chelsea, but he wants the kind of salary that’s prohibiting that conversation.
“It’s also prohibiting moving to other football clubs.”
According to The Athletic, the Reds have already held serious conversations behind the scenes about signing the England international this summer.
Jordan slams Mount’s salary demands
Spotrac claim Mount currently earns £80,000-a-week at Stamford Bridge.
Despite this, the Daily Mail have suggested the midfielder has rejected extension offers worth up to £200,000-a-week at his boyhood club.
It is believed he thinks he is being undervalued by Chelsea, as a whole host of Blues players earn considerably more – including a number of new arrivals: the likes of Raheem Sterling and Kalidou Koulibaly.
Fellow academy graduate Reece James reportedly earns £250,000-a-week, suggesting he is seen as a more important player for the Premier League outfit.
Having also lost his place in the starting XI, Mount could look to move elsewhere in pursuit of another key player role.
The 24-year-old would walk into the current Liverpool midfield, so his arrival would sure be welcomed by Jurgen Klopp.
