Yaya Toure has named Raheem Sterling and Sadio Mane as two of the best wingers in the world, a duo that Liverpool have sold in recent years.
Speaking at the Football Black List awards via ESPN UK, the former Manchester City star named his three best left-sided attackers in world football, with Toure surprisingly naming Sterling and Mane as the Ivorian legend said: “If you go left like you said, Leroy [Sane], Raheem Sterling, love it, and Sadio Mane.”
With Sterling and Mane both struggling at new clubs this season, Toure’s picks are unusual, to say the least, with the former Liverpool wingers moving to Chelsea and Bayern Munich this season respectively and yet to get up their pace with their usual form.
Mane, in particular, has been unable to adapt to life in Bavaria with Bayern, with the Senegal international spending a good chunk of the season out through injury as Sterling has also endured problems that has seen the former City star become nothing but a squad player under Graham Potter.
Sterling and Mane will be looking to return to their best amid Toure praise

Toure’s kind words on Sterling and Mane come from a place of knowledge and game respecting game, with the City icon aware that the two attackers are some of the best in the world and are now just currently experiencing a lapse in form, yet the former midfielder’s comments could spur the duo to return to their best.
As we know, Mane and Sterling have both struggled massively this season, and whilst there have been glimmers of hope, there’s every chance that the pair can return to their best in the coming weeks, something we have seen from many players Liverpool have sold over the years.
