Darren Bent has named Andy Robertson ahead of Luke Shaw in his Euro XI following on from an incredible international break for the Liverpool defender.

Speaking on TalkSport, the pundit included the Scotland international in his dream Euro XI ahead of the Manchester United defender, with Shaw receiving a red card in England’s 2-1 win against Italy in their opening qualifier for next year’s competition.

As for Robertson, the defender captained Scotland to a historic 2-0 win against European giants Spain as the Liverpool star assisted Scott McTominay’s opener as the Tartan Army secured two wins from two in their qualifying process for Euro 2024.

Whilst Shaw has enjoyed the better club season, Robertson’s quality shone through this week on the international stage, with Bent saying on naming the Liverpool man in his Euro XI: ’Left-back I’ve gone Andy Robertson,” to which the former Premier League striker said he thought the Scotsman was better than the United man.

Robertson and Liverpool might be enduring a rough season compared to their Premier League rivals, yet the £7m defender showed this week with Scotland why he’s levels above the 27-year-old Shaw, with the Scottish star playing a role in a historic win against Spain.

Whilst Shaw will soon be back for England having served his suspension, it’s hard to grasp just how more valuable Robertson is to his national team than the United fullback, with the Liverpool star the beating heart for Scotland and their leader both on and off the pitch.
