West Ham United striker Michail Antonio has claimed Tottenham Hotspur star Harry Kane could actually join Liverpool in the summer.

Speaking on The Footballer’s Football Podcast with Newcastle United’s Callum Wilson, the Hammers attacker has suggested the England captain will realistically only be able to join two Premier League teams: either the Merseyside outfit or Manchester United.

“The only place he can go is United,” said Antonio.

“City have Haaland. United need to bring someone in…

“Actually, there’s two places he can go.

“United and Liverpool. Liverpool need a number nine.

“The only two places. I’m thinking it’s £100 million.”

According to The Mirror, Kane will want out from Spurs in the summer, with chairman Daniel Levy having to make a decision. He will either have to sell the player or let him run his contract down to then leave in 2024.

We’re not really sure where Antonio is coming from here.

Out of every position on the pitch, Liverpool do not need to focus on bringing in a new number nine to Anfield.

Although Roberto Firmino is leaving at the end of the season, the centre-forward role is one of the only positions the Reds have bought for in the last few years.

Just last summer, Jurgen Klopp welcomed Darwin Nunez to the club, having agreed a £64m deal with Benfica.

Furthermore, in January, Liverpool unexpectedly landed Cody Gakpo ahead of Man United with a £37m swoop.

Instead of spending £100m on a player like Kane, this money would be better used on a midfielder – and for that price, Jude Bellingham fits the bill.
