Napoli centre-back Kim Min-jae is more likely to join Liverpool than Manchester United this summer, as per Italian journalist Ciro Venerato for Tg Sport.

According to the reporter, the Reds are in pole position to sign the 26-year-old.

Jurgen Klopp’s side are willing to pay over £60m to land the South Korea international, despite reports claiming he’ll have a £44m release clause which will be ‘valid for a few days in July’.

Liverpool are said to be more likely to win the race for Kim, despite interest from Erik ten Hag and the Red Devils, as they look to rebuild their squad this summer.

The defender only joined Napoli in July 2022, in a deal worth £16m.

Liverpool in pole position to sign Kim

Although Liverpool have one of the best in Virgil van Dijk and one of the most exciting prospects in Ibrahima Konate, the club need to add depth to the centre-back position.

Both Joel Matip and Joe Gomez have been called upon this term, with injuries playing a big part in the Reds’ season.

However, they have been rather inconsistent, with calls from fans being made for the pair to be replaced.

Liverpool have seemingly listened, as they have been linked with the likes of RB Leipzig star Josko Gvardiol.

Now, they are reportedly in the lead to sign Kim, who has been hailed as ‘extraordinary’ by former Napoli forward Emanuele Calaio.

Therefore, if the Reds manage to get him to Anfield, this would be a brilliant signing for the club.
