Liverpool have reportedly pitched to Jude Bellingham that he will become the club’s new Steven Gerrard, with the Reds keen to make the England international their latest star midfielder.
According to the Telegraph, part of Liverpool’s plan to sell the club to the 19-year-old England international is to talk up Bellingham’s chances of truly replacing Gerrard as well as building the team around the midfielder, with Jurgen Klopp a massive fan of the teenager.
Valued at around £100m, Bellingham is Liverpool’s main transfer target for the summer and a player that the Reds are keen to sign, though interest from rival clubs and their own destiny in whether they qualify for the UEFA Champions League or not could all be key factors in such a transfer.
However, given just how perfect Bellingham is for Liverpool and the issues the wonderkid will solve in the midfield for the Reds, the Anfield side could still force their way into signing the 19-year-old if the money is there to land the Borussia Dortmund superstar.
Indeed, everyone and their mother knows that Bellingham is the dream signing for Liverpool this summer, and the Reds making the Gerrard pitch to the midfielder could be key in seeing the midfielder make the move to Merseyside over the likes of Manchester City.
And with Klopp already having plans to make Bellingham the heartbeat of the team and the man to build the entire club around for years to come, Liverpool are seemingly doing all they possibly can to convince the youngster to choose them this summer.
Liverpool giving Bellingham a Gerrard role could be a sweetener in a deal
Bellingham to Liverpool rumours are only going to increase from here, with the midfielder set to be linked with an Anfield move for what might feel like an eternity for some supporters. However, the Gerrard aspect of such a deal could be huge in the Reds landing their man.
As we know, Bellingham’s idol growing up was Gerrard, and the chance for the England star to replicate the role the Reds legend had at the club will be very appealing for the Dortmund star, which could be big in Klopp winning the race for Europe’s hottest property.
