Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konate has suggested that he never wants to leave the Merseyside club.
Speaking in an interview with Eurosport France, the 23-year-old claimed he hopes to remain at Anfield for a very long time.
“When you play for Liverpool, the question honestly is, ‘Where can I go next?’” said Konate.
“And to last at this club, you have to perform.
“My goal is to be part of the team in the short and long term, and of course to win all the titles.”
The Frenchman joined the Reds from RB Leipzig in 2021 in a transfer worth £36m, signing a deal until 2026.
Konate never wants to leave Liverpool
Although Virgil van Dijk has been the best defender in Europe since arriving at Anfield, Liverpool need to eventually look beyond him, as he turns 32 years old in July.
Luckily, they already have their long-term replacement in Konate.
Since joining the Reds, the France international has been a revelation at the back, showing promise of a world-class defender.
His aerial presence is absolutely huge, and his physical attributes make him extremely difficult to beat in one-versus-one situations.
Due to various injuries, Konate has only made 43 appearances for the club. Therefore, if these issues continue, this could become a massive problem for Liverpool.
However, with the way it is at the moment, he is sure to play a crucial role for years to come.
