Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot has opened up about his support for Liverpool and Steven Gerrard, with Reds reportedly interested in signing the France international.
Speaking to Tuttosport, the 27-year-old revealed that the former Liverpool captain was his idol growing up, with Gerrard one of the best midfielders in Europe during Rabiot’s childhood as the former England international guided the Anfield side to European and domestic success.
Rabiot said on his childhood support of Liverpool: “I liked Liverpool so much because I was a fan of Steven Gerrard who made me dream and therefore I followed the Reds.”

90min have recently claimed that Liverpool have been in contact to sign Rabiot, with the Juventus star’s contract due to expire in the summer in what has currently been the midfielder’s best season for the Italian giants since joining from PSG.
Indeed, Rabiot’s stock has risen immensely this season having impressed for both Juventus and for France at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, and with the midfielder now saying he supported Liverpool as a kid, the Reds could have the advantage in pulling off a potential deal.
Moreover, with Naby Keita set to leave Anfield, the no. 8 shirt famously worn by Gerrard will become vacant, and the prospect of wearing the same kit as his icon could be convincing for Rabiot, who might soon switch Turin for Merseyside if the Reds can play their cards right.
Liverpool signing Rabiot would be a huge coup for Klopp

Liverpool face a huge battle on their hands to sign Rabiot, a player who will put himself in an incredible position of power in the summer if the midfielder chooses to leave Juventus. However, given how much the Reds mean to the Frenchman, a deal could be easier to pull off than first imagined.
As we know Rabiot’s idol growing up was Gerrard, and with a chance now there this summer to become Liverpool’s new star midfielder, the former PSG man could be keen on a move to Anfield to achieve a childhood ream of succeeding the Premier League great.
