Liverpool player says Reds fans have made an amazing chant for him recently

Liverpool forward Diogo Jota has thanked fans for creating another song about him to sing from the stands.

Reds supporters have been serenading Jota to the tune of Creedence Clearwater Revival hit ‘Bad Moon Rising’ for the best part of the last year.

But it appears that not satisfied with one chant for the Portugal international, fans have now made another.

Jota was shown footage of supporters singing his name to the tune of the old Fernando Torres song on Liverpool’s YouTube channel. Reacting to the video, the 26-year-old shared why the chant was extra special to him.

“For me it’s even more special because I liked him [Torres] a lot,” the forward explained. “Then I signed for Atletico Madrid and my first game was a friendly and I played up-front with him, that was nice. I still have a picture on my phone. Now I’m in the same song, it’s unpredictable.”

Jota still trying to find his tune

Going off form, there’s no way Jota deserves another new song right now. It’s fast closing in on a year to the day that he last found the net for Liverpool. But the fact remains that supporters simply love their No.20.

Once he’s back fully recovered from his injury troubles he’ll surely start finding the net once again. Until then, fans will make sure he knows just how much they’re on his side.

It’s also interesting to hear that Jota once shared a pitch with Torres. He didn’t end up staying at Atletico Madrid all that long, but what a partnership that could have been.

With 116 Liverpool goals between them, they’re two of the most potent finishers Reds fans have seen this century.

You can picture it now; Jota buzzing around nicking the ball from defenders and loading the bullets for Torres to fire home.

Alas, that will never happen now. So instead, the best we can do is enjoy watching Jota while the familiar tones of the Torres song ring in our ears.
