Barcelona forward Robert Lewandowski has raved about Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp in a recent interview with ESPN.

The 34-year-old played under the German boss at Borussia Dortmund, where he went on to establish himself as one of the best strikers in the world.

Together at BVB, they went on to win two Bundesliga titles and even reached the final of the Champions League in 2012/13.

When asked about his former manager in an interview with ESPN, the Poland international was full of kind words to say.

“His personality [is the best],” said Lewandowski.

“He is the guy who can be like a father, the guy that can help you all the time, but also he’s the guy who can try to push you.

“This is the guy who you can go to him, speak with him. We are all human, we all have problems.

“He’s not only the coach, he is the guy who … you can learn from him, also [about] life. I learned a lot under him.”

Lewandowski full of praise for Klopp

As some of Klopp’s transfers go, Lewandowski has to be up there with the best.

According to FTBL, Dortmund landed the Polish star for just £3.5m.

He went on to make 187 appearances for the club, during which he bagged 103 goals and 42 assists.

He became a formidable force under Klopp, and once again the manager demonstrated just how much he can get out of his players.

If only Lewandowski didn’t sign for Bayern Munich on a pre-contract in 2014, he could have followed Klopp to Liverpool a year later!

The German has had the same effect on his players at Anfield, thus justifying his huge £300,000 weekly wage.

We are extremely lucky to have Klopp on Merseyside, so hopefully we can continue to win trophies under his leadership before he leaves in 2026.
