David Seaman has been speaking about this weekend’s Premier League action and passed comment on Mo Salah’s missed penalty at Bournemouth.
The Reds were seen off by the Cherries 1-0 and Salah’s missed penalty meant there was nothing to be taken from the game for Jurgen Klopp’s side.
Salah, rather uncharacteristically, put the ball wide to the delight of the home crowd.
And speaking on the Seaman Says podcast today, former England stopper Seaman said Salah was always taking a risk given the style of penalty he took.
“That’s the theme with that type of penalty. Because he’s left-footed and if you’re going to go for that sending it outside of the post to bring it back in, there’s always that risk you don’t get the correct amount of bend.
“It looked really bad. It only just missed the post but because it went straight into the stand it looked so bad. You just don’t expect Mo Salah to miss like that,” Seaman said.
Salah had flown back into form lately for the Reds. He was instrumental in the 7-0 win over United last week.
Jurgen Klopp will be hoping Salah puts the miss firmly behind him in what could be an unlikely fightback against Real Madrid this week.
RTK’s View: Mo Salah penalty just sums up this season for Liverpool
The inconsistency this season is infuriating for Liverpool fans. One week the Reds are hammering Manchester United and the next they’re losing to a team in the bottom three.
Salah’s penalty was just the icing on the cake for what has been a frustrating season overall for Klopp’s side.
Liverpool now need to put this behind them and hope they can bounce back quickly. It’s the toughest of tasks against Madrid, but if any side can do it, it’s this Liverpool team.
