Liverpool followed up their 7-0 win over Manchester United with an utterly pathetic performance against Bournemouth today.
12.30 kick-off, white away strip, relegation threatened side? You know the rest from Liverpool. They duly delivered one of their most abject displays of the season. Barely threatening and looking shaky at the back. Throw in a Mohamed Salah missed penalty and it was truly a day to forget.
Hereâs how we rated the players from Bournemouth 1-0 Liverpool. A miserable afternoon for Jurgen Kloppâs side.
Defence
Alisson: 6 â Never troubled besides the goal and there was not much he could do about that.
Trent Alexander-Arnold: 5 â Beaten too easily on a couple of occasions and couldnât find his passing range.
Ibrahima Konate: 6 â Slightly better than his defensive partner today, but didnât look as composed as of late.
Virgil can Dijk: 3 â Horrendous performance from Liverpoolâs No.4 who just simply gave up for the gameâs winning goal. Far too lethargic throughout the game and missed two massive headers to boot. Not good enough.
Andy Robertson: 5 â Not the outlet he usually is down the Liverpool left. The goal comes from his side as heâs caught too high up the pitch. Should have squared a good opening to Salah first half.
Midfield
Fabinho : 4 â Has been excellent over the last few days, but looked back to the flimsy Fabinho weâve seen for much of the season.
Stefan Bajcetic: 5 â Wanted too long on the ball at times and was guilty of slipping the Reds into a slow rhythm. Made one or two poor decisions on the ball which could have been costly.
Harvey Elliott: 4- Completely the wrong choice up against a midfield of Jefferson Lerma and Philip Billing. Couldnât affect the game at all and rightly subbed off at half-time.
Attack
Mohamed Salah: 3 â After a superb turn against United last week, this was more like the Salah weâve seen at times this season. Shocking penalty miss at a time where Liverpool really needed him to turn up.
Cody Gakpo: 5 â Carried the ball forward well at times but didnât use it well at all. Missed a decent chance in the dying seconds to salvage a point for the Reds.
Darwin Nunez: 4 â Looked a little leggy, one or two sloppy fouls and misplaced passes halted some early momentum. Rightly subbed off early into the second-half.
Substitues
Diogo Jota: 6 â Looked the most lively of all Liverpoolâs attackers on the pitch. Unlucky to see his header hit Adam Smithâs arm when it was destined for the net.
Jordan Henderson: 5 â Failed to add the urgency he was brought on to bring.
James Milner: 5 â Slotted in at right-back but looked sluggish in forward and defensive positions.
Roberto Firmino: 5 â Did a better job of getting Liverpool on the ball, but was too crowded out to be effective. Almost put Milner in trouble with one poor back-pass.
Fabio Carvalho: N/A â Nice to see him get on but not given enough time to make a contribution.
