Sadio Mane says Jurgen Klopp is seriously emotional behind the scenes

Former Liverpool star Sadio Mane has revealed what it was like having Jurgen Klopp as his manager, and how he compares to Bayern Munich boss Julian Nagelsmann.

Speaking in an interview with DAZN ahead of Bayern’s Champions League fixture against Paris Saint-Germain, the Senegal international was asked about Klopp – given his great relationship with the German whilst at Anfield.

“Klopp is Klopp. He’s a mix of the old and the new generation,” said Mane.

“He’s got so much experience and his life is all about football, but he’s also demanding. Sometimes, very, very, very, very much so.

“He is very emotional and sometimes shouts. Almost ready to fight.

“(Nagelsmann) is rather calmer. In terms of football, I don’t see any major differences. They like types of players who press high, because their teams are high.

“It’s easier for me because I’ve almost only had German coaches in my career.”

Mane full of praise for Klopp

Having signed for Liverpool from Southampton in 2016 in a deal worth £34m, Mane went on to spend six years at Anfield. He made 269 appearances for the club, during which he bagged 120 goals and 48 assists.

Excelling alongside Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino, the trio became renowned in the Reds’ front-line – ultimately becoming one of the most feared attacks in the whole of Europe.

Just last summer, the 30-year-old revealed that he wanted a challenge elsewhere, and he later joined Bayern in a deal worth £35m.

Aside from Gini Wijnaldum, this was the first major departure of the Klopp era.

With Firmino set to leave at the end of the season, more of these Merseyside heroes are starting to drop off now.

Therefore, it’s great to know they still hold the same opinion of the club once they move on elsewhere, as they all hold Klopp in the highest regard.
