TalkSPORT pundit Darren Bent has suggested Liverpool attacker Darwin Nunez is so much better than Manchester United winger Antony.
Taking to Twitter after the Merseyside outfit’s 7-0 demolition of the Red Devils yesterday, the former Premier League striker suggested Antony hasn’t been anywhere near as good as Nunez has since they both arrived in England last summer.
“If anyone tries to tell me Antony has had a decent season compared to Darwin Nunez, they’re having a laugh,” Bent tweeted.
Liverpool welcomed the Uruguay international to Anfield last summer after they agreed a £64m deal with Benfica to land the talented striker.
Bent suggests Nunez is better than Antony
Although United fans may claim it’s unfair to compare the two given Antony is more of a natural winger, Nunez has actually established himself on the left under Jurgen Klopp this season.
In 31 games for Liverpool, the 23-year-old has bagged 14 goals and four assists. Whereas, in 30 games for United, the Brazilian has managed just eight goals and three assists.
As well as putting the ball into the back of the net, Nunez has improved numerous aspects of the Reds’ attacking play.
His incredible pace and peak physicality causes opposition defences absolute chaos, often leading to chances being made for the likes of Cody Gakpo and Mohamed Salah.
Furthermore, he is also excellent defensively. When the back-line needs help, the Uruguayan can always be relied upon to put in a strong tackle or clear the ball.
This isn’t a part of Antony’s game, thus suggesting that Nunez is a better all-round player.
