Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk was captured emulating the departing Roberto Firmino during yesterday’s 7-0 thrashing of Manchester United.

The likes of Darwin Nunez, Jordan Henderson and Ibrahima Konate were captured celebrating with a big hug after scoring one – of their many – goals against their arch-rivals at Anfield.

Alongside these celebrations, Van Dijk was caught in the moment – elated by their performance.

With Firmino leaving the club at the end of the season, the £75m star was photographed doing the signature ‘Si Senor’ jumping kicks so famously associated with the Brazilian.

The Netherlands captain shared the image to his Instagram.

Liverpool will miss Firmino

Having arrived at Anfield under Brendan Rodgers, Firmino was the first player to encapsulate Jurgen Klopp’s spectacular era at Liverpool.

His ability to transform the false-nine role saw the Reds click together on the pitch, allowing the likes of Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane to flourish.

Joining the Merseyside outfit eight years ago, the 31-year-old has made 354 appearances for the club, during which he has amassed 108 goals and 79 assists.

However, with the likes of Darwin Nunez and Cody Gakpo coming through the ranks, the forward has decided to leave the club upon the expiry of his contract.

This won’t be the first departure of the Klopp era, as Gini Wijnaldum and Mane have already left.

However, it may be the most painful yet, as Bobby is a fan favourite on the Kop.

Therefore, it’s great to see Van Dijk honour his teammate with a tribute.
