Liverpool looked back to their incredible best today as Jurgen Klopp’s side dominated arch-rivals Manchester United in a 6-0 victory at Anfield.
Going into the game, fans held varying opinions about the outcome – with the Reds inconsistent in recent months.
However, the Merseyside outfit proved to everyone that they have the quality needed to dominate the best teams in the Premier League.
Liverpool played like a prime-Reds side from years ago, absolutely dominating on the counterattack.
All over the pitch, Klopp’s men excelled in their most convincing win of the season yet.
This was a sensational performance from the Redmen – so let’s hope they can maintain this form for the remainder of the campaign.
Defence
Alisson Becker: 5 – Nearly caused a howler in the first-half and looked jittery on occasions.
Trent Alexander-Arnold: 7 – Was equally as strong defensively as he was offensively. Made a great last-minute tackle on Marcus Rashford.
Ibrahima Konate: 7 – Great to have him back in the team. Was physically assuring at the back.
Virgil van Dijk: 7 – Similarly to his centre-back partner, he looked solid throughout.
Andy Robertson: 8 – Had an excellent game going forward. Played a brilliant through-ball for Cody Gakpo’s first goal and continued to look a threat down the left.
Midfield
Fabinho: 7 – Was much improved from his recent form. His insistence to win the ball back resulted in Liverpool’s second goal of the game.
Harvey Elliott: 8 – Excellent in midfield. Won numerous duels and was never afraid to put in a tackle against the likes of Casemiro. A really encouraging performance.
Jordan Henderson: 6 – Rather quiet in the middle but assisted Darwin Nunez’s second goal.
Attack
Mohamed Salah: 9 (Man of the Match) – Absolutely exceptional today. Was everywhere in the opposition third. Two goals and two assists – with a ridiculous volley for the second. Heroic display leading from the front. As Klopp says, he’s ‘world-class’.
Cody Gakpo: 8 – Brilliant in front of goal. Two excellent finishes to send Liverpool onto a huge victory.
Darwin Nunez: 7 – Started slowly but was fantastic in the second half. Got himself two goals after turning on the jets.
Special mention to Roberto Firmino, who got his goal in front of the Anfied crowd.
