Jamie Carragher says Liverpool star Mohamed Salah has been an ‘absolute revelation’ in the PL

Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has claimed Mohamed Salah has been an ‘absolute revelation’ since arriving in the Premier League.

Speaking for Sky Sports in the build-up to the clash against Manchester United today, as shared by Football Daily, the former Reds defender was full of praise for the ‘Egyptian king’, asserting he will be on form for Jurgen Klopp’s side at Anfield.

“No, I never worry about Mo Salah,” said Carragher.

“Now and again, he will go four or five games without scoring and people think, ‘what’s he doing? We need a goal from Salah’.

“That makes me think there’s a goal around the corner, because he doesn’t normally go that long.

“Now, with him, for me, he is a great goal scorer. I think sometimes I describe other players who get goals as great players; I’d look at a Harry Kane or a Thierry Henry and class them as a great player who got goals. For me, he’s all about the goals. He’s obsessed with those numbers, and I absolutely love him.

“And the biggest thing and the best thing about him is, maybe even more than the goals, he’s never injured. Every time you come to a game, he’s playing. He plays every single game, he has done for five or six years since he’s been here.

“And he’s got that eye of the tiger when he wants to get goals, [when] he wants to make runs in, and I think we will see the best of him because I think he comes alive – certainly in big games.

“That pace, that energy, running in behind. I think he’s been an absolute revelation – not just for Liverpool. I think he is one of the best attacking players that we have ever seen in the Premier League.”

Carragher backs Salah vs United

As Premier League matches go, this clash has to be one of, if not, the biggest.

After a terrible start to the season, Liverpool now seemingly have a chance of finishing in the top-four and qualifying for the Champions League next year.

Whilst every game against United is a huge date in the calendar, the fact the Reds can close the gap on fourth-place Tottenham makes this match all the more important.

Erik ten Hag’s men are in good form, sitting third in the table and having recently won the Carabao Cup, so this will be a very tough match-up for the Merseyside outfit.

For the first time in years, the Red Devils have looked better than Liverpool this season.

However, Klopp’s side have looked much improved in recent weeks – showing glimpses of the Reds of old.

Therefore, with three points absolutely crucial to building momentum and pushing for that fourth-place spot, the likes of Salah will need to do everything in their power to lead Liverpool to victory today.

The £34m man has never let the club down yet, and that isn’t going to start at Anfield today.
