Klopp makes three changes, as 'outstanding' forward returns: Liverpool's predicted XI vs Man United

Liverpool have the chance to put real pressure on their top-four rivals as they take on Manchester United tomorrow.

Defeats for both Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur today have given the Reds real incentive to claim the three points. As if they needed any more for what is traditionally the biggest game in the English football calendar.

Both sides head into the match in good form, with United riding high from claiming the Carabao Cup last weekend.

Liverpool will be keen to remind their old enemy that they’re still a force to be reckoned with, though. Here’s how we think Jurgen Klopp will set out his team at Anfield.

Alisson Becker kept his fourth Premier League clean sheet in a row and his fifth in six games against Wolves. He’ll be hoping to make it five out of five against United.

In-front of him there’ll likely only be one change, with Andy Robertson coming in for Kostas Tsimikas, who was impressive in mid-week.

The rest of the back four should stay the same. That will mean Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate get the nod.

With plenty of options at his disposal, it must be hard for Klopp to pick his midfield at present. The return to form of Fabinho should mean that the manager has a relatively easy decision for who plays at the base of the trio, though.

Stefan Bajcetic’s emergence as a genuine option also continues to bear fruit. The 18-year-old is currently part of Liverpool’s best midfield and should start another huge game here.

Completing the trio is likely to be captain Jordan Henderson. Rested for the clash with Wolves, we expect to see Hendo slot in for such a high profile fixture.

As with his midfield, Klopp has some decisions to make over who plays in his forward line right now. Diogo Jota has been given the nod for the last two games, but without a goal, we think he’ll return to the bench here.

Jurgen could then choose to throw in Roberto Firmino through the middle. After yesterday’s news that Bobby is set to leave the club in the summer, he’d no doubt be given a raucous reception at Anfield. Ever the showman, perhaps the Brazilian would rise to such an occurrence.

But no, we think Klopp will resist. Instead, he’ll restore Cody Gakpo to the central role the ‘outstanding’ forward had started to make his own. Either side of him there’s no debate, really. Mohamed Salah on the right and Darwin Nunez on the left. Watch out, United!
