Divock Origi sends word-less message to Virgil van Dijk on Instagram after Wolves victory

Former Anfield cult-hero Divock Origi has sent Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk a message on Instagram after the Reds’ 2-0 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers last night.

The Netherlands international broke the deadlock in the 73rd minute as he headed home Diogo Jota’s cross from close range.

Mohamed Salah ensured the victory just four minutes later, as he got onto the end of Kostas Tsimikas’ low ball into the box.

With the extra three points secured, Liverpool have now moved up to sixth in the Premier League table, just six points behind fourth place Tottenham – with a game in-hand.

They now wait to face Manchester United on Sunday.

Origi sends message to Van Dijk

Taking to Instagram after the match, Van Dijk shared two images of his celebration after he opened the scoring.

In the comments, numerous players took time to applaud the 31-year-old, who shone at the back.

One person to do so was none other than Liverpool cult-hero Divock Origi.

The AC Milan striker sent a crown emoji – implying the defender is a king on Merseyside.

This was very much deserved, given the Dutchman was voted player of the match by numerous media outlets and even by the home crowd themselves.

Van Dijk has received criticism this season, but none of this has been justified when comparing it to the level of his performances on the pitch.

He is certainly now getting back to his best – much to the relief of Jurgen Klopp – and he will continue to play a huge part in Liverpool’s push for a spot in the top-four.
