Report: Insiders at Liverpool now hopeful Thiago Alcantara may return from injury sooner than expected

Insiders at the Merseyside club are hopeful that Liverpool midfielder Thiago Alcantara will be able to return from injury ahead of the one-month expected timeframe.

That’s according to the Liverpool Echo, who have shared news on the 31-year-old’s latest injury.

Last Thursday, the Spaniard wasn’t pictured training with the remainder of the first-team.

Despite this, the club remained calm, although Jurgen Klopp said he needed to speak to Thiago about the severity of his hip issue.

After these conversations, it was established that the midfielder would not be able to play against Everton on Monday.

Instead, it was estimated that he would be out of action for a month, potentially missing both Champions League round-of-16 ties against Real Madrid.

However, the Echo claims that some people inside the club are hopeful that his setback won’t be as long as first feared.

Insiders hopeful of Thiago returning ahead of schedule

Hopefully Thiago will return to full fitness as soon as possible.

Although Liverpool’s midfield looked the best it had in a while against the Toffees, the likes of Jordan Henderson and Fabinho have been somewhat inconsistent this term.

Asides from Stefan Bajcetic, the 31-year-old has been the Reds’ most consistent performer in the middle of the park.

Not only has he dictated the tempo of play by spraying long passes around the pitch to launch attacks, he has also been Liverpool’s most regular tackler.

Contributing both offensively and defensively, he will be a big miss for the Reds.

However, with insiders hoping for an early return, fans will have their fingers crossed that he will be ready to play in the second leg tie against Madrid in the Champions League.

They will need his ‘unbelievable’ quality if they are to beat Los Blancos and advance to the next round.
