Reds manager Jurgen Klopp claimed that Liverpool attacker Mohamed Salah looked totally transformed against Everton last night.
Speaking with Sky Sports after his side’s 2-0 win, the boss had many players he wanted to single out for praise.
Having hailed Stefan Bajcetic, Cody Gakpo, Darwin Nunez and Jordan Henderson, the German then went on to laud the ‘Egyptian king’.
“Mo played [at a] completely different level now,” Klopp said.
“His level [was] really physically strong.”
Salah opened the scoring for Liverpool in the 36th minute, before Gakpo ensured three points with a second goal shortly after half-time.
The Merseyside outfit have now moved up to ninth in the Premier League table.
Salah looked completely transformed vs Everton
Although the 30-year-old has been absolutely imperative to Liverpool’s success since joining the club in a deal worth £34m, he has been somewhat below par this season.
Before the Merseyside derby last night, Salah had scored just seven goals in 20 Premier League games.
Although his scoring record has been far superior in the Champions League this term, having bagged seven in just six matches, it has been his overall lack of contributions elsewhere on the pitch which have been disappointing.
However, against the Toffees yesterday, he looked back to his best.
The winger was daring with his attacking runs, weaving in-and-out of defenders. Furthermore, as Klopp said, he looked very physically strong – with the ability to maintain possession when under intense threat.
With Liverpool desperate for goals as they hope to climb the Premier League table, Salah will play a crucial part in getting the side back to their best.
Therefore, following a great all-round performance, hopefully this is the kick-start the Reds needed to close the gap with the top-four.
