Darwin Nunez and Mohamed Salah top the Premier League in one key stat – journalist

Liverpool attackers Darwin Nunez and Mohamed Salah lead the Premier League for one key statistic.

According to Sky Sports reporter Michael Bridge, as shared by Football Daily, the Reds pair top the division for ‘minutes per chance created between duos’.

This follows Nunez combining with Salah to capitalise on a counterattack against Everton last night, with led to the opening goal of the game.

“Someone we talked about a lot, Darwin Nunez. Really interesting stat here; minutes per chance created between duos,” Bridge said.

“Nunez and Salah are top on 52 minutes. Now, we know it’s not been a great start for Nunez, but I think what the key here is, is that they are creating chances.

“The most optimistic Liverpool fans, and I’m sure the vast majority will say hey he’s gonna put them away soon. Salah obviously scoring last night.

“Morgan Gibbs-White there, Brennan Johnson. Haaland and De Bruyne. Kulusevski and Kane. Names we are used to seeing with City and Tottenham – that bodes well potentially for Forest. Mitrovic and Pereira, what a great season they’re having under Marco Silva.

“But Salah and Nunez up there, so that’s a positive for Liverpool as well.”

Nunez and Salah top of key PL stat

As demonstrated against the Toffees last night, Liverpool look far more dangerous when Nunez and Salah are able to combine on a fast-breaking attack.

Both players possess incredible speed, so hitting the opposition on a counterattack is a perfect way for the Reds to set-up their frontmen.

Although the Uruguay international hasn’t been extremely clinical since making the move to Anfield last summer, he adds lots more elsewhere on the pitch – making him a dangerous threat going forward.

When the 23-year-old next gets on the score-sheet, he will become far more confident in front of goal.

However, for now, he has added assists to his game. Salah will be pleased with this, as it helped him open his account for 2023 last night.

The ‘Egyptian king’ will remain a crucial part of Jurgen Klopp’s attack going forward, so it’s great to see him gain some form heading into the second half of the season.
