£60m PL player is very much on Liverpool's radar this summer

Liverpool are targeting the summer arrival of Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Moises Caicedo.

That’s according to journalist Rudy Galetti. Speaking to Give Me Sport, Galetti claimed that Caicedo is very much ‘on Liverpool’s radar’ ahead of the summer window.

Interestingly, the journalist also claims that Reds boss Jurgen Klopp ‘requested’ Liverpool sign a midfielder last month. Whether or not Klopp wanted Caicedo specifically though is unclear.

“Klopp requested a midfielder already in January and the list for the summer to date is practically the same,” said Galetti. “Moises Caicedo is on the Liverpool radar.”

Klopp still waiting for midfield addition

Liverpool’s interest in Caicedo appears to be long-term. The Reds were said to have been one of the teams in the mix for the Ecuadorian in January, before Arsenal’s £60m bid moved to blow them out the water.

With the 21-year-old staying put at Brighton though, he’ll be fair game again come the summer.

Whether Liverpool move may depend on what Caicedo shows for the rest of the season. He’s been impressive up to this point, that’s for sure. But with his dream transfer snatched away from him by Brighton, how will he react on the pitch?

If he keeps up the same levels, he’ll have the same calibre of suitors in the window. Likely to be without Champions League football, Liverpool may not be as attractive as usual, but they’ll still be in there.

So, we know the Reds like Caicedo, this isn’t necessarily new information. As a result, arguably the more interesting part of Galetti’s update is the first half.

As per the journalist’s information, Klopp did actually want to sign a midfielder last month.

The decision ultimately was that Liverpool will stick with what they have for the rest of the season. This looks like being an enormous mistake on the club’s part, but one which they’ll now have to live with.

According to Galetti though, this was not a decision supported by the Liverpool manager. That makes what ended up happening even worse. FSG, please, listen to Jurgen this summer.
